Champions League Quarter-Final: Chelsea to visit FC Porto; "Drop Your Predictions"

When Chelsea takes on FC Porto on Wednesday, they will be looking to advance further in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

On Wednesday, the first-leg quarter-final ties of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League continue, with two exciting matchups in store.

In Sevilla, Premier League giants Chelsea will face FC Porto, while champions Bayern Munich will face last season's runners-up Paris Saint-Germain.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the game will be played at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Spain, which is essentially Porto's home ground.

Porto finished second in Group C comfortably, losing just one of their six games, before surprising Juventus by knocking them out in the Round of 16 stages due to the away-goal rule.

Sergio Conceicao's team enters the game on the back of a three-match winning streak, most recently defeating Santa Clara 2-1, and will be looking to build on that against Chelsea, who are desperate to get back on track following their weekend defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

The Blues did indeed lose their first game under Thomas Tuchel this past weekend, falling 5-2 to the Baggies.

However, their performance in the Champions League this season has been excellent, as they have yet to lose in the competition. Chelsea won Group E before beating Atletico Madrid in the previous round 3-0 on aggregate.

The last time these two sides met was in the UEFA Champions League in December 2015, when Chelsea defeated Porto 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The Hard Tackle takes a closer look at both teams ahead of their next meeting on Wednesday.

N'Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic are both fit and available for the game, giving Chelsea a double injury boost.

Despite Thomas Tuchel's insistence that the former can only be a bench option. Tammy Abraham, who was left out of the West Brom game, is also expected to return to the matchday squad.

Thiago Silva struggled against West Bromwich Albion last time out and is unlikely to play on Wednesday.

Kurt Zouma is also expected to miss out, with Tuchel stating in his pre-match press conference that Antonio Rudiger will start amid his recent spat with Kepa Arrizabalaga on the training ground.

Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta will be the other central defenders protecting Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

In the previous game, Ben Chilwell was benched in favor of Marcos Alonso, but that could change against FC Porto, with the England international starting at left wing-back. Reece James can keep going right.

Mateo Kovacic, who was one of Chelsea's few bright spots against West Brom, would almost certainly appear in midfield.

His center-field driving runs will set the tone for the Blues' offensive moves. In the center of the park, Jorginho will be the Croatian international's partner.

Chelsea's defensive midfielders should be Mason Mount, who did not start the previous game, and Hakim Ziyech, who was subbed off in the first half.

Kai Havertz, rather than Timo Werner or Olivier Giroud, may be favored over the pair in creating chances for the striker.

Mendy, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Rudiger; James, Kovacic, Jorginho, Chilwell; Ziyech, Mount; Havertz are the most likely starters (3-4-2-1).
