On Saturday evening, Liverpool will face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League.

Mikel Arteta needs Arsenal to give a better performance against Liverpool than they did against them last season at the Emirates Stadium, despite his team winning.

After a goal from Sadio Mane inside the first 20 minutes, the Gunners were 1-0 up by halftime, thanks to Alexandre Lacazette and Reiss Nelson capitalizing on Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker errors.

During the good cup run last season, the home side had just 31% possession in that match and had similar numbers in victories over Man City and Chelsea.

When asked if Arsenal will play in a similar manner against the Reds this time, Arteta said, "I think the game decides that." “I believe"

“I assume that sometimes you must adapt to the opponent because they are simply stronger than you and that sometimes you should compel the opponent to adapt.

We'll see, based on what they're capable of and what we're capable of. “When you play against top-quality sides, you sometimes have to be able to adjust your game to get the results that you need.”

Despite their relative struggles in the Premier League this season, a win for Liverpool on Saturday night will bring them up to fifth place in the table.

Last season, the Reds won the Premier League and the Champions League, and Arteta said he's been impressed with Jurgen Klopp's growth at Anfield since his arrival in October 2015.

When asked if his job at Arsenal is comparable to Klopp's at Liverpool, he said, "I don't want to compare different projects – I think what they've done is remarkable."

“It was incredibly well-thought-out. They were outstanding in terms of resource management and resource maximization.

“They've done it very, really well, and now it's about maintaining that,” Klopp said. We are currently in various stages of that project, but we know exactly where we are and where we want to be, and we are in the first of two phases.

“We had some goals that we needed to fix in order to be in a position to develop the squad, evolve the team, and start competing at a higher level, and that is where we are now.”
