Sources: Arsenal in advanced talks to sign Ryan on permanent deal

Arsenal and Brighton are in advanced talks to sign goalkeeper Mat Ryan on a permanent contract, Football Insider can reveal exclusively.

Ryan, 29, joined the Londoners on loan for the remainder of the season in January.

Negotiations to turn the loan into a full-time move are going well, according to an Arsenal source, and are expected to be completed soon.

Since his arrival as Bernd Leno's backup, the keeper has made a positive impression on the Gunners coaching staff.

He's made two Premier League appearances, including a 1-1 draw with Fulham last weekend.

Ryan has just over a year left on his Brighton deal and signing him this summer would not cost anywhere near the £10 million he was valued at in January.

Following his dismissal from his team in December, Graham Potter gave the go-ahead for the keeper to go out on loan.

Ryan was replaced in the squad by Robert Sanchez, who has now started Brighton’s last 20 Premier League matches.

Ryan has a deal at Brighton that lasts until the summer of 2022.

In 2017, the 58-times Australia international joined the south-coast club for £5.4 million from Spanish giants Valencia.

In total, he has 123 appearances for Brighton in all competitions, conceding 185 goals and holding 27 clean sheets.
