Arsenal are already targeting the perfect player to fulfil Ian Wright's transfer demand

If sources are to be believed, Arsenal is looking for the right kind of player this summer.

Ian Wright, an Arsenal hero, is anxious for his former club to add momentum to their midfield this summer. Arsenal is set to have their worst Premier League season in over 25 years.

Following their Europa League exit last week, Mikel Arteta's side is also likely to miss out on European qualification entirely.

Wright argues that the midfield is an important position that needs to be addressed in the next transfer window.

Following the victory over West Brom on Sunday, the former striker explained the need for a different style of player in the middle of the park.

Wright believes Real Madrid loanee Dani Ceballos is not the solution but admits Martin Odegaard may be further up the pitch.

"I'd like to see more inventiveness in and around, passing out from the back, the midfielder," Wright told Premier League Productions.

"Dani Ceballos isn't that man, in my opinion. If you get over those lines, I like someone like Martin Odegaard.

"But that's just what they need to do: they need to get the energy and passing flowing faster through the team in order to get it to the players who can inflict harm.

"I don't believe that happens nearly often enough."

As the season comes to a close, Arsenal has been linked with a number of players.

And one of them, in particular, maybe just the right profile to meet Wright's needs.

Yves Bissouma of Brighton has been a long-term target for the Gunners and is said to be always on their radar.

The Daily Star reported earlier this month that Arsenal is optimistic about luring Bissouma away from other Premier League clubs.

Everton, West Ham, and Tottenham are all interested in signing the midfielder.

Arsenal, on the other hand, is said to be in pole position and believes a contract with Brighton can be thrashed out for £30 million.

Bissouma has been without a doubt Brighton's best player this season.

The 24-year-old has always stuck out like a sore thumb in a team that is only now looking to avoid relegation.

Bissouma is precisely the sort of player Arsenal requires. Wright is correct in that they need more energy in the midfield.

The Mali international will not carry a slew of goals, having scored only one in the Premier League this season.

However, Arsenal has been too patient with Granit Xhaka and signing Bissouma, 24, will be a declaration of intent from the club's owners.
