Arsenal's edge in Bissouma race emerges as Gunners 'plot £60m transfer plan'

Arsenal is reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, and they are also reportedly looking for a second Lyon star to complement Moussa Dembele.

It's the time of year when transfer rumors start to fly as club executives finalize their plans ahead of the window's opening.

In the case of Arsenal, a clear-out is on the cards after a disastrous season that revealed Mikel Arteta's squad's lack of consistency.

The Gunners manager is expected to have the backing of owner Stan Kroenke, but he is aware that he must make space for new recruits by releasing a number of underperforming first-team players.

Arteta is said to have decided on which players he will transfer, and he is hoping to sign Brighton's talented holding midfielder, Yves Bissouma.

The Seagulls star has also piqued the interest of some of Arsenal's Premier League rivals, but the north London club may have the upper hand.

All of this and more can be found in Thursday's Arsenal transition round-up.

Arsenal has the upper hand in the fight for Bissouma.

While Arsenal is expected to face stiff competition for the signing of Yves Bissouma, they may have an advantage over their rival suitors.

Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with the Brighton midfielder, but according to, Bissouma is in constant touch with Arsenal stars Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel, with whom he starred for Lille.

It is also worth noting that the Mali international is an Arsenal supporter and has the same agent as Pepe and that the club's executives are still determined to get him to north London as a long-term partner for Thomas Partey.
