'Brilliant', 'game-changer': Some Arsenal fans praise 27-year-old's display after Chelsea win

Arsenal supporters respond to Thomas Partey's success against Chelsea.

On Twitter, Arsenal fans lauded midfielder Thomas Partey for his effort against Chelsea in the Premier League last night.

The Ghana international has struggled in his first season with Arsenal, and his form has been erratic since returning from a hamstring injury earlier this year.

Party had a poor performance against Villarreal a few weeks ago, in which he lost possession on 15 occasions while playing as the sole defensive midfielder.

He came on as a late substitute against West Bromwich Albion last weekend but was given the nod to play against Thomas Tuchel's side.

Partey had a much better performance from the center of the field, recording five tackles, three interceptions, and two clearances while winning eight of his 12 duels.

The Gunners won the derby with a single goal in the 15th minute from Emile Smith Rowe, but Partey received some praise on Twitter.

The 27-year-old was paired with Mohamed Elneny, who was full of energy and often pressed the opposition players.

Partey was able to focus on his job as a result, and he delivered a convincing output in comparison to recent weeks, when he seemed out of sorts.

Partey is clearly suited to a double pivot with a more mobile midfielder, and it remains to be seen if the club addresses the problem this summer.

Granit Xhaka has been the regular partner alongside Partey when he is fit, but the Swiss lack the versatility to consistently press his opponents.

The Gunners have been linked with Yves Bissouma and Denis Zakaria as they look to strengthen their midfield options this summer.

Here are a few people's reactions.
