Harry Maguire hands Manchester United a potential injury boost ahead of Europa league Finals

Maguire has been using crutches since injuring his ankle ligament.

Harry Maguire boosted expectations that he would be able to play in Manchester United's Europa League final next week after being seen without crutches or a protective boot on Thursday night.

Since suffering an ankle ligament injury against Aston Villa earlier this month, the Red Devils captain has been wearing a support boot and walking with crutches.

The defender, however, was seen without both as he attended the premiere of 'Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In' on Thursday night, alongside his teammates and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After United's draw with Fulham, Solskjaer admitted Maguire's chances of reaching the Europa League final against Villarreal on May 26 'didn't look fantastic.'

But the manager of the Red Devils said he was always hopeful, and he may have even more reason to be optimistic after seeing his captain without crutches or a protective boot.

'Hopefully, we'll have good news soon, but I'll wait a little longer on Harry,' Solskjaer said on Tuesday.

'He's shown his significance. When I was hurt, I thought I had developed into a really good player. People are aware of your abilities.

'Harry is our boss, and he's been noticeably absent at the moment. I'll give him as much time as he wants to say yes or no.

'He's making strides, but we don't want to put it to the test too much.' Harry is desperate for this, but he is still wary of taking chances.

'When I talked with him this morning, he was upbeat. We have to be optimistic and believe he will succeed until we have to say no. 'I've always been a believer.'

United has not won since Maguire's injury, losing to Leicester and Liverpool before drawing 1-1 with Fulham.

Prior to his withdrawal at Villa Park, the defender had played every minute of every game.

England manager Gareth Southgate will also be hoping that the 27-year-old recovers completely in time for the Euros this summer.

Next week, Southgate will announce his 26-man squad for this summer's tournament.

Maguire was joined at Thursday's premiere in Manchester by some of his United teammates, including Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Scott McTominay, Brandon Williams, and Phil Jones.
