'He is absolutely key for us': Thomas Tuchel talks up Chelsea FC star

Thomas Tuchel discusses Mason Mount's importance to his Chelsea FC squad.

Thomas Tuchel has emphasized Mason Mount's contribution to the new Chelsea FC squad.

This season, the England international has been a frequent fixture in the Chelsea FC lineup and has proven to be a key player for the Blues during the campaign.

Mount has received a lot of acclaim for his efforts for the Blues this season, and he has six goals and five assists in 34 Premier League games for the club.

The 22-year-old was unable to prevent Chelsea FC from losing 1-0 to Leicester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday, denying the Blues their first trophy of the season.

Tuchel acknowledges that Mount was not at his best against Leicester City, but he maintains that the English midfielder is an important player for his team.

Tuchel said after the game in an interview with Chelsea FC's website, "We tried to give Mason a little break recently because he gave a lot in the Real Madrid games and he has been so decisive for us."

“We didn't have much time between those games and the [Manchester] City match, particularly given the travel, but we needed him to rest to preserve his energy and form.

“I believe he suffered a little bit in the game against Arsenal in terms of maintaining his normal high standards and making an influence on the game.

He's been playing in a double six role for the last few games, which I don't think is the best position for him, but I'm still very happy with Mason.

“In the cup final, he should have played with a little more poise, but remember, if it hadn't been for an excellent save from [Kasper] Schmeichel, he would have equalized.

“It wasn't to be, but Mason is still a dangerous player for us, and we must be careful not to overestimate Mason.

“He is a key player for us in every game; he is always decisive, and that will not change in the next three games. He is crucial to our success.”

Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Tuesday night as they host Leicester City at Stamford Bridge in an attempt to move closer to a top-four finish.
