Key Man United star set to miss rest of Premier League season with injury, Ole confirms

Manchester United manager Solskjaer has announced that Harry Maguire will miss the club's remaining Premier League games.

Earlier this week, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stayed tight-lipped about Harry Maguire's ankle injury.

The Baby Faced Assassin would claim that he was "hopeful" that our captain would be able to play in the Europa League final on May 26th.

DON'T MISS:

Maguire's streak of playing every minute of Premier League football since arriving at Old Trafford came to an end when he picked up the injury in a game against Aston Villa.

At the time, our first reaction was to hope he'd be able to face Villareal. After all, it's the only significant game we have left at the moment.

So, ahead of our league match against Liverpool tomorrow, Solskjaer announced that the main United player will miss the rest of the Premier League season due to an injury.

The manager will go on to say that he is 'hopeful' Maguire would be able to play in the Europa League final and the European Championships.

When it comes to injuries, Solskjaer has always been a difficult man to read, but I thought the manager was fairly upbeat about this one.

The good news, as he claims, is that nothing was broken. Instead, what Maguire wants is some rest, which he will get plenty of over the next week or so.

At this point, it's a matter of hoping that Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof will play so many games in such a short period of time. Both of these guys have had recent injury issues, and I really don't trust any of them in a meaningful game.

I suppose Solskjaer now has a few games to work out who will partner Maguire in the European showpiece, assuming our captain is fit. Who knows, I could even argue that Axel Tuanzebe deserves to start.

One thing is certain: Solskjaer isn't persuaded by any of his center-halves other than Maguire, which is why we're constantly linked with attempts to sign a new defender this summer.

For the time being, let's hope Maguire is good to go on May 26th!
