Man United lead to finally secure signing of £43million star – Expert

Manchester United is looking for a goalkeeper, and for the second time, Kalidou Kouliubaly's name has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The African star is one of the world's most experienced defenders, and he has been a standout for Napoli in the Italian league.

If media reports are to be believed, the Red Devils could sign him for as little as £43 million in the next transfer window.

According to Ian McGarry, Manchester United is ahead of rivals Liverpool in the race to sign the 29-year-old center-back this summer.

According to the Transfer Window Podcast's transfer expert:

“He was eligible for €90 million in the summer transfer window, but we understand that a fee of about €60 million (£51.6 million), possibly as low as €45 million, will be sufficient to secure his services.

“We now know that Manchester United and Liverpool are still involved, though Liverpool's interest has cooled somewhat.”

Napoli was hoping to get at least 100 million euros from the sale of their precious asset last year (La Gazzetta Dello Sport). In the end, the former Genk man stayed with the Serie A club.

Earlier this month, a well-known Italian media outlet speculated that Koulibaly could leave the Naples-based club for as little as 50 million euros (£43 million).

Man United has struggled at the back recently without skipper Harry Maguire, and Ole can learn from Liverpool's disastrous season without Van Dijk.

As a result, someone of consistency and expertise should be acquired to reinforce the backline, and Koulubaly suits the bill perfectly.

Will Manchester United spend £43 million to eventually sign the star defender, in your opinion?
