Some Arsenal fans left seething with Arteta comments as Gunners get dumped out by Villarreal

Some Arsenal supporters were enraged by Mikel Arteta's remarks about the club's performance over two legs during the draw and eventual exit from the Europa League at the hands of Villarreal.

Speaking after a 0-0 draw with Unai Emery's side, the Spaniard said that his team played well enough over both legs to advance against the La Liga side.

The Gunners were made to look remarkably ordinary by an amazingly organized Villarreal side, who limited the north London outfit to just two shots on goal in 14 attempts.

Arteta commented on his team's results, saying, "I think over two legs and what happened today in the second half, we deserved to win the game."

It's important, in my opinion, to have everyone available at their best during the decisive moment. And there are too many people attempting to compete but failing miserably.”
