Thomas Tuchel confirms Kepa Arrizabalaga will start for Chelsea against Leicester City in the FA Cup final

Kepa Arrizabalaga will start in goal for Chelsea in Saturday's FA Cup final against Leicester City, according to Thomas Tuchel.

The Spaniard returned to the starting lineup for Wednesday's Premier League match against Arsenal, but he had little influence on the Gunners' game-winning goal.

Jorginho's dreadful back pass was almost rolled into the empty Chelsea net, with Kepa just about clawing the ball off the line.

However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the first to the loose ball, teeing up Emile Smith Rowe to score after 16 minutes.

Tuchel made seven changes, including the inclusion of Kepa instead of Edouard Mendy, and acknowledged after the game that he had made a mistake in his team selection.

The goalkeeper, on the other hand, was not one of them, with the German confirming Kepa was given the opportunity to pick up some match rhythm ahead of the clash at Wembley this Saturday.

‘We thought it was a smart idea to send him the game ahead of time,' Tuchel said at a press conference. ‘Because, first and foremost, we trust him, and he deserves [it]. That is why we included him in the lineup.

‘He is deserving. We decided to give him some minutes and take both games together because he is so strong in training.' This season, Kepa has started every round of the FA Cup.
