Thomas Tuchel praises ‘fantastic’ Arsenal star

Chelsea FC boss Thomas Tuchel remains a keen admirer of Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Thomas Tuchel lauded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, calling the Arsenal forward a "fantastic" striker.
Tuchel worked with Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, where the Gabonese international scored 79 goals during his time there.

Aubameyang, 31, has been in good form for Arsenal since joining Dortmund in January 2018, when Arsene Wenger was still in charge of the north London club.

Aubameyang has scored more than 80 goals for Arsenal since joining the club three and a half years ago.

Tuchel was named as Frank Lampard's successor at Stamford Bridge at the start of this year and has earned widespread acclaim for his influence at the southwest London club.

The Chelsea FC manager has now admitted that he is still a big fan of the Arsenal forward and keeps in contact with him off the field.

Tuchel said at a news conference ahead of Chelsea FC's match against Arsenal on Wednesday night: "Back in the days at Dortmund, it was a pure pleasure to have him in the squad."

“Auba was a great striker and finisher on the field. But, most importantly, he was a great worker off the field.

“I don't think he missed a single training session in the last two years. Maybe he was five minutes late on the practice field; something can happen to him! But if he does this, it is because he is in a rush, he is sorry, and he still has a smile on his face.

“It was a very dependable partnership because he scored an incredible number of goals, his pace was unrivaled in the Bundesliga, and he was a vital player. He's a little nut, but it's a good kind of crazy.

“We're all in contact and send each other updates when one of us has a huge win. He will always be my player in certain respects, so I want him to excel and have a nice time wherever he is.

“This touch never completely ended, and it's good to see him because he's always up for a hug and it's nice to see him laugh.”

Arsenal's next Premier League game will be against Crystal Palace on May 19th.
