Thomas Tuchel Provides Injury Updates on N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz

Chelsea beat Leicester City 2-1 in the Premier League tonight, just three days after losing to the Foxes in the FA Cup final.

Due to fitness issues, forward Kai Havertz was left out of the squad entirely, and midfielder N'Golo Kante had to be subbed off in the 32nd minute due to injury.

The particulars of the problem were not disclosed, but the Frenchman recently overcame hamstring issues. Mateo Kovacic, who had just missed a game, took his place.

After the game, his manager, Thomas Tuchel, given an update on Kante and Havertz's injuries. He was asked if they'd be available for the season's final two games, Championship Sunday and the UEFA Champions League final. “I'm not sure yet,” the Geman replied.

“We will examine them tomorrow. I have a good feeling about it because NG (Kante) said he felt something but didn't want to risk a muscle injury, so I'm hoping for Sunday. It's the same with Kai.”

Chelsea's victory over Leicester today moved them one step closer to securing a UCL berth for next season, but they'll need their A-team available to seal the deal, not to mention for the major trophy game in 10 days.

That includes Kante, who is back in the form that earned him the PFA Player of the Year award last season.

When safe, he has been excellent for the majority of the season, and the Blues will need him to be at his best if they are to upset the juggernaut that is Manchester City in Porto.
