Fabrizio Romano: Raphael Varane ‘clear’ on Man United situation

Fabrizio Romano provides an update on Manchester United's interest in Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Raphael Varane is ready to accept Manchester United's contract offer, and his move to Old Trafford now hinges on the Red Devils settling a fee with Real Madrid.

The French defender has been extensively linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tries to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season.

Varane's future at Real Madrid has become a topic of discussion, in part because his current deal with the Spanish champions is set to expire at the end of next season.

Varane's future is likely to be resolved this summer by the Spanish giants in order to prevent the possibility of losing the defender for nothing in a year's time.

According to Italian writer Romano, Varane is ready to accept Manchester United's offer of a contract extension until 2026, and the potential transfer now depends on the two clubs agreeing on a sum for the 28-year-old.

Romano stated on Twitter over the weekend, "Situation clear on Varane side."

“He is willing to accept Manchester United's contract offering until 2026 provided a deal between the teams and Real Madrid is completed in the coming days/weeks.

“Varane will be polite to Real – but he would love to play in the Premier League.”

Varane scored two goals in 31 La Liga games for Real Madrid last season and played four times for France this summer at Euro 2020.
