Lingard To Stay Put At Old Trafford "See Solskjaer's Reason"

Manchester United is on the verge of rebirth, with a new run to the top of the English Premier League table on the horizon as the club prepares for the arrival of huge transfer signing Jadon Sancho.

The Premier League's winningest team is aiming for a 14th title this season after defeating Derby County 2-1 in a pre-season game on Sunday, thanks to goals from Tahith Chong and Facundo Pellistri.

Manchester United also welcomed back fan-favorite striker Jesse Lingard as a second-half replacement following a successful loan spell with West Ham United last season.

Lingard has since been linked with a move to West Ham, as David Moyes' team was clearly thrilled to have him on board.

Due to the signing of Bruno Fernandes, he was fighting for playing time at Old Trafford, which led to the loan spell.

The move allowed him to further develop into a goal-scorer, as he had nine goals in 16 games for West Ham.

Manchester United fans are concerned about the future of Lingard at Old Trafford due to the impending arrival of Sancho, but boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed his plans for the 28-year-old winger.

“He was one of the bright spots. He's a Manchester United player who wants to compete for a starting spot,” remarked Solskjaer after the game.

“He's returned bright, confident, and full of enthusiasm. What he did at the conclusion of last season is the actual Jesse, what we know he's capable of, and I believe we saw towards the end that we lacked certain choices at times, and Jesse is in the plans right now, yeah,” he continued.

This is a huge setback for West Ham's potential move for Lingard, and with Manchester United anxious to keep him, the Hammers will have to explore elsewhere for a winger.

“He's still on my radar. “I expect him to be at Manchester United at the start of the season,” said Solskjaer.

Last season, Manchester United ended 12 points behind league winners and cross-town rivals Manchester City, so having a lot more confident Lingard back on the roster is fantastic news for the historic club.
