The teenager, who played eight times for the club's Under-18s last season, contributing five goals, is highly regarded on Merseyside, but it has been rumored that he has rejected an offer of a scholarship agreement at Anfield in preference of joining another Premier League team.

Ennis, however, has already visited Chelsea's Cobham training ground, posting a snapshot of the Blues' academy's receiving room at their Cobham training headquarters on his Instagram profile last month.

Previously, it was thought that Chelsea had won the race for the 16-year-signature, old's but it has now been revealed that he is going to join United instead, with Stretty News reporting that United is very close to completing a deal.

With a move to United seemingly all but completed, Liverpool has already begun planning for how they can get the most out of Ennis' departure, focusing on negotiating a development fee for the kid, with a tribunal as a possibility if an agreement cannot be reached.

Chelsea's expectations of adding another bright, promising youngster to their crop of talent developing from the club's academy system will be dashed by this news, but there is much more fish in the sea.

In actuality, given that Ennis is just 16 and has spent his whole career on the books of Liverpool, a move to Old Trafford would make far more geographical sense for a kid his age.
