Manchester United has once again been linked to Saul Niguez.

When Manchester United is connected to Saul Niguez, you know summer has here.

Last summer, the Daily Star published a ridiculous rumor claiming that Manchester United was willing to pay £135 million to recruit Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez.

According to the article, “United are willing to satisfy the buy-out provision in Niguez's nine-year deal at Atletico — and make him one of the team's highest-paid stars.”

This appeared to be plainly false at the time, especially in light of the epidemic, and Saul finished the season with Atletico, winning the title.

With Saul's future in doubt, his position could alter this summer.

      Saul is for sale.

According to AS, Atletico Madrid's attempts to sign a striker are being hampered by a salary cap in La Liga, and the club sees selling Saul as a solution.

Over the last week, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have attempted to assist each other by discussing a deal for Saul and Antoine Griezmann, but this has not been simple, and AS reports that ‘the barter has cooled' in recent days.

As a result, Saul Niguez's agency is said to have contacted Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.

Atletico has recently signed Rodrigo de Paul, so they can afford to offload Saul while maintaining a formidable side.

According to AS, Saul could be transferred for as little as 40 million Euros (£34 million), with probable destinations including Barcelona, Liverpool, and Manchester United.

Is there room for Saul, and is United simply being exploited here?

Saul is a top talent that could help any elite club. But does United have a place for him?

United's midfield is crowded, with Fred, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek vying for spots.

While there is an argument to be made that Saul is superior to all of them, United has no plans to let any of them go, and the key midfielder with an uncertain future is Paul Pogba.

If Pogba is sold because he only has one year left on his contract, Saul would be a very wise signing, especially at the price he is apparently available for.

However, Atletico appears to want a quick resolution here, while United appears to have other priorities at the moment.

Most likely, United is being utilized to put pressure on Barcelona, and a difficult trade with Griezmann is eventually completed.
