Report: Arsenal willing to sell 'amazing' player for £22.5m this summer

Arsenal is allegedly willing to sell Bernd Leno this summer, but only if they do not lose money on the deal.

The Gunners, according to talkSPORT, would accept any bid that matched the £22.5 million they spent for Leno in 2018.

The Germany international joined Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen and has contributed significantly to the Gunners' overall success.

DON'T MISS:

Leno has appeared in 117 competitive games for Arsenal, including 49 last season.

His future at the Emirates Stadium, on the other hand, is fairly dubious.

According to The Athletic, Leno is one among at least five senior Arsenal players that some staff members believe may be wanting to depart this summer.

In June, The Mirror reported that Arsenal was willing to sell Leno.

“Arteta understands that if his team is to compete for the top four again, he needs a more consistent goalkeeper,” they said.

“He is fantastic.”

Last season, Leno had a rough campaign in which he made a number of mistakes.

One blunder occurred in the club's Europa League victory over Rapid Vienna in October when the Austrians took the lead.

But David Luiz stayed firm in support of his now-former comrade.

“I think Bernd is amazing,” the Brazilian was reported as saying by The Mirror.

“It is part of our concept to develop from the ground up; it is a natural thing for us to do.

“You always play to eliminate players from the start as you build, and that makes it a lot simpler for the strikers.

“How many times did it go smoothly, if you count?” But he only made one mistake, and this is part of our ideology.

“He is fantastic, and he allows us to play from the back and attempt to assist us.”
