WILSHERE ‘SURPRISED’ BY ARTETA’S TREATMENT OF ARSENAL STAR WHO HAS TALENTS ‘YOU CAN’T TEACH’

Jack Wilshere told the Highbury Squad that he is surprised by Gabriel Martinelli's lack of game time at Arsenal.

Last season, Mikel Arteta used the 20-year-old little, and Wilshere believes the Arsenal youngster possesses characteristics that cannot be taught.

Martinelli did start last season after returning from a long-term injury, so it was understandable that he would get off to a poor start.

However, as the games progressed and Arsenal continued to struggle, Martinelli found himself on the bench, as Wilshere expressed his opinion of him.

“I was astonished at times when Arsenal needed a goal when they needed anything and he wasn't thrown on,” Wilshere explained.

“He is the type of player who can pull that off. He appears in the box. He seems to be in the right place at the right moment all the time. Things can't be taught to them.

“I believe he will only improve as he gains experience playing in important games. I believe he is a player who will benefit from having his fans back.

“I recall him scoring that goal against Chelsea. He just got better and better as the game progressed and the supporters rallied around him. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.”

While Arsenal is in a predicament they haven't been in 25 years - no European football – it's the young players who are bringing sunshine to the dark clouds over the Emirates.

Emile Smith's Rowe's ball-carrying abilities, Bukaya Saka's courageous personality, Martinelli's ball speed, and Joe Willock's goal-scoring abilities from midfield.

They are a group of guys who Arsenal should construct a team around since they have some serious, serious talent at their disposal.
