Bruno Fernandes in awe of Donny van de Beek's body transformation amid Man Utd struggles

Van van Beek struggled for opportunities during his first season at Manchester United after joining Dutch heavyweights Ajax for a fee of £35 million last summer.

Donny van de Beek's amazing bodily transformation ahead of the 2017 Premier League season has impressed Manchester star, Bruno Fernandes.

Van van Beek has bulked up in the offseason in an effort to save his United career.

Following his £35 million moves from Dutch giants Ajax last summer, the Dutch midfielder was starved of opportunities in his first season in England.

In an interview from the team's training camp in Scotland, Fernandes praised van de Beek's off-field work as they prepare for the season opener against Leeds United on August 14.

“As a professional player, you always prepare for your season before you come back for training, you always do something before, and I think everyone was doing their tasks at home,” Fernandes explained on the club's official website.

“He [van de Beek] is working hard and working hard at the gym. Obviously, he is one of the quality players we know, and he is now on the rise.”

The Red Devils were rumored to be looking for a new defensive midfielder, but thanks to the Dutchman's efforts, they may no longer need to.

Van de Beek has been given nutrition and fitness regimens to help him bulk up in order to meet the physical demands of the Premier League.

After suffering an injury on the eve of the competition, the 24-year-old was forced to withdraw from Frank de Boer's Netherlands squad.

He has subsequently recovered and made his first appearance of the pre-season campaign in the recent 2-2 draw at Old Trafford against Brentford, which he captained.

Van de Beek made just four Premier League appearances for Manchester United last season after failing to persuade Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, the Dutchman scored in his league debut after coming off the bench in a 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
